It's been another few months since I've checked in. I'm not a great blogger, but I'm not the worst either. Well, I may be the worst. That's okay. I'm working on doing better. I have many ideas for this blog and many hopes. We'll see where those things can take me. Along with that, I hope it takes you into a few moments of your daytime hours to enjoy.
The best thing I've had the joy to experience is family. Being awoken by your adult son calling you just to say "Good morning" and share his breakfast he's making with his girlfriend, is one of the best joys you can get out of life. Another cool thing I experienced was a "garage sale" at my old high
school in Lawton. There wasn't much saling going on, but there was one booth everyone gathered around. That was the old yearbooks for sale booth. Seriously, great idea. Who woulda thunk it?
This booth had old yearbooks from the '50s, '60s and '70s. Now, that may not seem so cool to you, but picture this: Did your parents graduate from the same high school you went to? Did they attend the same school for maybe even a year or two. My father did. After figuring out the years he would have been there, I looked for the books. Unfortunately, she did not have his exact year. But communication always helps. That brings me to the word of the day, so to speak. I'm chatting with an older gent my father's age. He tells me, "You know, if you can't find your father's yearbook here, they have old yearbooks at the library."
That is AWESOME communication. I promptly went to the library and there in the back of the library on a shelf was lots and lots of old High School and Junior High School yearbooks. There in the Lawton High School 1962 Yearbook was my dad's sophomore photograph.
So, my friends, try it. It's a great feeling to go and find a piece of your family somewhere on a dusty old shelf in the back of a library.
